After graduating from Carson High School in Carson, California, I earned a scholarship to UC Riverside where I majored in Biomedicine while playing Division II Softball. I soon found out that juggling studying, playing softball, and having friends was not an easy task so I moved to Cal State Dominguez Hills to focus on my studies of being a Certified Athletic Trainer.
After earning my BA in Sports Medicine from Cal State Dominguez Hills, I began working with several professional teams in the Los Angeles area, including the LA Kings, Long Beach Ice Dogs, and the Professional Beach Volleyball Tour. Becoming a Certified Athletic Trainer and working with great professional athletes was an exciting part of my life; however, I soon found out that it wasn't what I wanted to do for the long haul.
In 1998 I took my first teaching position at Long Beach Jordan High School as a Physical Education teacher and Athletic Trainer. WIth my background in Sportsmedicine, I found it an easy transition into the classroom as a Health and Biology teacher. I worked at Jordan High School from 1998-2004 where I had the opportunity to write the High School Sports Medicine Curriculum currently implemented within the Long Beach Unified School District.
In 2004 I moved to the Carson Valley to marry my husband. During that year I acted as the Douglas County School District's Attendance Officer where I developed and implemented the Attendance Program for Douglas County.
The 2005-2006 school year was my first year as a teacher at Carson Valley Middle School. CVMS is a wonderful place to work! The students are exceptional, and the staff are amazing. As a teacher, CVMS is the place to be and I am excited to be a part of this wonderful staff.
